Undoubtedly, the first letter Kenneth wrote from France was on 08 September 1944. Although his return address had not changed, he called attention to his location change. In the next paragraph, he alerted Elizabeth that he lost his wedding ring and explained that he lost it some time while landing on Omaha Beach. Kenneth emphasized his regret by expressing that he would have rather lost his finger than the ring.
He further described the symbol of his wedding ring, saying that its meaning was marked plainly in his heart and that its meaning to him could never be lost. Kenneth asked Elizabeth that buy him another ring for his birthday and Christmas present.
